I had so much fun and exploration in this painting! If you follow me on Instagram you'll have seen how the layers were slowly built up to create this intricate surface. Sometimes when creating a painting it'll feel like a pivotal piece. This was the case with "Fading Glory". Still fascinated with rust and textures, I wanted to create a sense of history and beauty through the use of translucent layering. This was achieved through countless glazes of diluted acrylic which were brushed on and rubbed off to give a worn appearance. The use of texture and light in this piece was something I carried forward into "Returning home."
