The fourth painting in the series was also the first of two very personal pieces. "Return to Drake" was painted in tribute to my great great uncle, Ernest Portage Tomlin who was a student at Drake Bible College, Des Moines, USA. Full of hope and aspiration he set sail on the unsinkable Titanic leaving Southampton on April 10th, 1912. The No. 364424 was his ticket number. The writing in the background layers are taken from his diary written at the time. He had hoped to go into the ministry following his graduation.
