I very rarely have a specific intention at the start of a painting, but rather allow it to tell me what it wants to be as layers are added and rubbed away. However, this time I knew my intention was to create a spiritual feel, light coming from darkness, and the concept of souls returning home. I wanted a sense of dark chaos and turmoil contrasting with light and calm. I created fused glass droplets to embellish this painting along with mesh that I've pulled and distorted to build up a highly tactile surface.
