"Time Immemorial" and "Whispers of the underflow" both started with a base layer of copies of documentation from the Titanic, some personal, others more general. Gradually some of these became covered by paint, with only glimpses showing through. I love the idea that each layer provides a snippet of history. These are the first ever two paintings where I've included overlays of collage papers created from tissue and acrylic inks. For me, they give a sense of peering through the surface, inviting the viewer to look closer and discover the beautiful marks and textures not visible from a distance.
