"Toil and sweat" is dedicated to the brave firemen of the Titanic, who worked in the depths of the ship's boiler rooms under extreme heat and darkness. Each fireman - or stoker - was assigned to a boiler and three furnaces, feeding them with coal every three minutes, a task that tested their endurance and spirit. Amidst the sweltering heat and high pressure, tempers often frayed, yet their tireless work was crucial to the ship's operation. The piece reflects their perseverance and sacrifice, honouring their unsung heroism during the fateful voyage.
